Do you go to MeetUps? The MeetUp – sphere is growing rapidly and just about any day of the week you can find a MeetUp to join and attend, you can choose from a social gathering, business or personal interest meeting or even a one off event.

Many cafes struggle with a night trade, so much in fact that many don’t even open. If you’re paying rent 24/7, which you are, then you should try and maximise your ‘profitable’ trading hours.

Bring these two concepts together, in what is a growing trend in some countries and even locally, you can create a MeetUp group and use your cafe as the venue.

The great thing about MeetUp is you’re in control. You can create ‘what you’re about’, the day and time of the MeetUp and people, depending on their interests will join your group and come to your cafe. Another great benefit is that once they join your group you can communicate with them, get them to bring friends and before you know it, your cafe is full on a Tuesday night!

Sounds simple…right!

Well it is but you have to make sure you come up with the right concept and you need to execute. Ideally you need a host that can really engage with members so they love it and keep coming back.

You can also for a JV with someone else and get them to facilitate it, thereby almost giving them a venue but they do all the work 🙂

Here’s some ideas for the types of MeetUps you can host.

  1. Board Gaming
  2. Book Club
  3. Computer Gamers
  4. Social Singles
  5. Personal Development
  6. Foodie Interest Group – aligned to your menu of course
